For Parents

You've done the hard work. Let us take your child even further.

We are here to prepare your child with skills for the future using the Creator Academy CodePlay™ system.

Creator Academy CodePlay™ is a programming-first framework for robotics and future STEM skills, developed by Webby Award–winning game developer Garry Law and refined through years of real classroom delivery at Creator Academy.

Since 2017, Creator Academy has been teaching students using a model inspired by how professional software engineers are trained in industry, not just how educational robotics platforms are typically taught. While most student programs focus heavily on hardware assembly or surface-level coding, CodePlay was designed to mirror the learning structures used to train interns and junior developers at large software and technology companies.

These industry-proven practices include:

  • Pair programming – students learn by actively reasoning through code with others
  • Code translation and refactoring – expressing the same logic in different forms and improving clarity
  • Technical documentation and code explanation – articulating intent, logic, and outcomes
  • Iterative development and extension – building, testing, improving, and extending functionality over time

Over years of applying these ideas in robotics classrooms, we formalised them into a clear, repeatable teaching framework: the Creator Academy CodePlay™ System.

Once your child has mastered the basics, we will give them the option to join a robotics team to compete in robotics tournaments and events all around the world.

When you enrol, you can enjoy the peace of mind knowing your child is taken care of in a nurturing environment, at Sydney's best robotics school where learning and fun go hand-in-hand.

Step 1: Platform Fluency

Students begin by mastering the official learning content of established robotics ecosystems such as LEGO Education, VEX, and REV.
This ensures strong alignment with curriculum standards and competition frameworks—where most programs stop, CodePlay begins.

Step 2: Code Translation

Students complete Creator Academy CodePlay™ exercises that require them to express the same logic in multiple forms—blocks, pseudocode, flow logic, and text-based code where appropriate.
This develops computational thinking, abstraction, and platform-independent problem solving.

Step 3: Code Articulation

Students learn to explain how code works, both verbally and in writing, using structured Creator Academy CodePlay™ communication techniques.
By articulating intent, logic, and outcomes, students deepen understanding while developing critical technical communication skills.

Step 4: Intelligent Extension

Advanced students extend and enhance their code using modern tools, including AI-assisted workflows (e.g. ChatGPT, Copilot, DeepSeek).
Students are taught to collaborate with AI, not depend on it—using AI to validate ideas, explore alternatives, and improve their own reasoning.

Why This Works
Creator Academy CodePlay™ focuses on the most challenging and transferable part of robotics—programming and thinking—rather than hardware alone.
As students outgrow specific robotics platforms, their skills move with them.

CodePlay in Practice
Creator Academy CodePlay™ is embedded across all our programs and is a key reason our students have represented Australia in international robotics competitions since 2017.
The system continues to evolve to meet the realities of an AI-driven future—without sacrificing foundational understanding.
